Florida Concealed Weapons Course

In the State of Florida, the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services “shall issue” a license to carry concealed weapons to citizens that meet a number of criteria as defined in Florida Statute 790.006. One of those criteria, FL Statute 760.006 (h), requires demonstration of competency with a firearm. For citizens without documentation of previous firearms training, the easiest way to demonstrate this competency is by attending a concealed weapons license course presented in accordance with Florida law.

The Security Training Academy Concealed Weapons Course is designed to provide private citizens with the knowledge necessary for obtaining a concealed weapons license from the State of Florida, including the principles of firearms safety and operation, the legal aspects of concealed carry and use of force. The course consists of a classroom portion, followed by live fire on the range.

All of our instructors are certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors, Certified DCJS Firearms Instructors and members of both the NRA and ILEETA.

What you will receive…

Florida’s CCW package and assistance with preparing it for submission.
Knowledge about storage, handling and firearms safely.
Knowledge about applicable State laws 790.fs and use of force laws 776.fs
Advice on concealed carry methods, firearms maintenance and care
Fundamentals of shooting and handgun operation
Certificate of Completion for submission to the State of Florida.

Enrollment also includes necessary notarization of CCW application paperwork. Students will receive all that is required to apply for your Florida CCW.

Firearms & Equipment

Students need to bring their own Firearms or rent at the range, 50 rounds of ammunition, appropriate holster, eye & ear protection. Range is Sharpshooters 8194 Terminal Rd, Lorton, VA 22079.

If you are taking a firearms class please include the caliber that you will qualify with. If you are taking online Alternative In-service training 07R, 08R, 09R, 10R you must register at web.sparkastai.tempurl.host for online services, then send an email to astai.org@gmail.com requesting your Range date to qualify. Once you qualify your score will be entered into the school's database and your completion will be sent to DCJS.
