Bail Enforcement Agent (BEA) Course

So you want to be a Bail Enforcement Agent a.k.a. a bounty hunter?

Call it bail enforcement, bounty hunting,  or fugitive recovery, apprehending fugitives from the law, can be dangerous! The career has existed since 1776.  In Virginia, the Commonwealth has the Department of Criminal Justice Services has 40 hour Bail Enforcement Agent (BEA) Course that is mandatory. This course is required in order to be licensed as a BEA under VA law. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive an original course certificate.   VAC 20-260-10 “Bail enforcement agent,” also known as “bounty hunter,” means any individual engaged in bail recovery.

To become a Virginia licensed Bail Enforcement Agent (BEA), you must meet the eligibility requirements as follows:

  1. Be a minimum of 21 years of age;
  2. Be a United States citizen or legal resident alien of the United States; and
  3. Have received a high school diploma or GED;
  4. Have successfully completed all initial training requirements, including firearms endorsement if applicable.

Length: 40 Hours (5 days)
Instructors: are Licensed as BEA instructors through Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services
Investment: $450 includes course and VA State BEA Certificate upon successful completion. Register for classroom training through our website.

Advanced Training: Other training offered includes Personal Protection Baton Tactics PPBT®; Practical and Tactical Handcuffing PPBT®, Control & Defense PPCD® (hand-to-hand combat, weapons disarming), and Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) OCAT® spray, Taser.
